5 Bold PGA Tour Predictions for 2013

1. Tiger Woods will regain the #1 world ranking. This may sound quite far-fetched being that Woods is currently ranked 3rd in the world, a substantial 4.69 points behind Rory McIlroy. It may take McIlroy some time to fully adjust and feel completely comfortable with Nike equipment. In the mean time, I believe Woods wins 3-5 times on the PGA Tour in 2013, including a major.

2. Sergio Garcia moves into the top 5 in the world rankings. Sergio Garcia has not been ranked inside the top 10 since 2007. He is currently 16th. Garcia had a solid season in 2012. Garcia won his 8th career PGA Tour event at the Wyndham Championship. He also finished the year strong with a victory at the rain-shortened Iskandar Johor Open on the Asian Tour. Garcia fired a final round 11-under 61 to take a 3-stroke victory. I believe Garcia continues his solid play in 2013 and moves into the top 5 in the world rankings.

3. Tiger Woods wins his 15th major. I believe Tiger Woods wins at least one major in 2013. 2012 was a huge year for Tiger, he won three official PGA Tour events. Woods did not win an official PGA Tour event in 2010 or 2011. In 2011, Woods fell outside of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Woods returned to form in 2012, winning 3 times on the PGA Tour. Woods recorded victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Memorial Tournament, and the AT&T National. If Tiger can putt like vintage Tiger Woods in majors, he will definitely win at least one major in 2013.

4. Erik Compton will win on the PGA Tour in 2013. Erik Compton is best known as the golfer on his third heart. He is an amazing story, and he can flat out golf his ball. In 2012 Compton had full time PGA Tour status for the first time in his career. Although he did not finish in the top 125 on the money list, Compton earned his card back via a 7th place finish at Q-School. Compton voiced his confidence toward the 2013 saying he will feel much more comfortable knowing the courses and venues. I believe Compton earns his first career PGA Tour victory in 2013, and becomes a marquee player.

5.Harris English wins multiple times in 2013. Call me crazy but I think this kid has a ton of talent and will break through big time in 2013. Although he had just 3 top-10 finishes in 2012, English has played some very good golf. English broke the scoring record for British Open International Final Qualifying shooting 60-63. English played in the final group of the Honda Classic with Rory McIlroy but faded to a T18 after a final round 77. English has plenty of game, and I believe he will emerge as one of the best young Americans.
