KAPALUA, Hawaii – Dustin Johnson fired a final round 68(-5) to captured his 7th career PGA Tour win. Johnson finished the tournament at 16-under-par to win by four-strokes over Steve Stricker. Weather conditions forced PGA Tour officials to shorten the tournament to 54-holes, the minimum to count as an official PGA Tour event. Johnson held the lead for the entire third round. After Johnson double bogeyed the par-4 13th hole, Steve Stricker pulled to within 3-strokes of Johnson’s lead. The very next hole Johnson holed out from 17 yards for eagle, erasing any hope of Stricker catching him. With his win Johnson takes home $1,120,000 and 500 FedExCup points. Stricker finished in second-place at 12-under par and Brandt Snedeker placed third at 10-under-par. Dustin Johnson will headline the field this week at the Sony Open.

Dustin Johnson loves these weather shortened 54 hole tournaments. He now has a 100% record in them.
It’s a great way to start 2013 for him and possibly the confidence to go on and win his first major title.
