HONOLULU, Hawaii – About a dozen PGA Tour professionals are gathered on the practice putting green at the 2013 Sony Open. Scotty Cameron is on site and Titleist staff players are excited to receive their annual Scotty Cameron Hula Girl Headcover. On the practice tee, equipment reps are busily attending to players, making sure the specs of their clubs are in check. Players are on the range methodically practicing and fine-tuning the work they’ve put in this off-season. Rookies like Morgan Hoffman, Luke List, and Russell Henley are full of talent and eager to prove they belong. Behind the first tee box stands PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, watching players tee off. Everyone at Waialae Country club is excited for the first full-field PGA Tour event of the season. 20 year old amateur Hideki Matsuyama confidently warms up on the range. Matsuyama is the 5th ranked amateur in the world and has desire to soon play on the PGA Tour full-time, following in the footsteps of countryman Ryo Ishikawa. Matsuyama has a decorated amateur career, highlighted by his 2011 T27 finish at The Masters. The Sony Open will be the first chance golf fans get to see many of the talented up and coming players on the PGA Tour. Johnson Wagner will attempt to defend his title this week as unheralded PGA Tour professionals will try to make a name for themselves. Be sure to tune into Golf Channel this Thursday at 7:00pm to see catch one of the most exciting events of the year.

Just to let you know, Billy Horschel is not a rookie. This is his 4th year on tour.
Thanks for the heads up. My mistake, I forgot he was injured. I’ll change the post accordingly.
Appreciate it.
